More comprehensive environmental practices were introduced to Finestone’s Rustenburg operations during the 1990's in parallel with the introduction of more professional mining and management practices.

As a large amount of waste material is produced in dimension stone quarrying, there must be proper environmental management programmes in place to control the positioning, upkeep and ultimate rehabilitation of the waste dumps.

Finstone has demonstrated its commitment to sound environmental management principles both in terms of the standard of rehabilitation being applied to “mined out” and current mining areas as well as through the company’s involvement with environmental groups.

As a leader in the industry Finstone maintains appropriate respect for the environment in the course of all quarrying activities.
